Celtic v Falkirk CIS Cup 7/11/06 |
|
Nov 06, 2006 - 7:51 PM - by lard44

|
Celtic entertain Falkirk at Parkhead tomorrow night in the next round of the CIS Cup, in a game that will probably generate more interest in the performance of one or two individuals than the result itself. Naturally a Celtic win is always desireable and the expectation tomorrow – but defeat in a pointless trophy competition, coupled with the relief in fixture congestion and the opportunity to blood some youngsters wouldn’t be heartbreaking. Ooh, get that pun did you? About last weekend? If... [Read More]

Bobby Shearer R.I.P |
|
Nov 06, 2006 - 7:34 PM - by ZamasBhoy

Just thought I'd start this thread and hope its respected. In the same spirit that all footballers across Scotland and the world remembered Jimmy Johnstone, I'd like to remember Bobby Shearer.
Rangers legend Bobby Shearer has died aged 74 after a short illness. The tough-tackling right-back was nicknamed captain Cutlass for his combative style, played for 10 years with Rangers from 1955-1965. He won five Scottish League... [Read More]

WITH Celtic already ten points clear at the top of the SPL bookies have declared the title race over if Gordon’s Strachan’s boys beat Hearts on Saturday.
The bookie(PP) will payout on all single bets on Celtic to win the SPL and its odds-on punters will be cheering come 5pm on Saturday with Celtic just 4/9 to beat a troubled Hearts team.
The Bhoys are already just 1/14 to retain their title.
The SPL race might be in danger of being a damp... [Read More]

Strachan banishes Benfica |
|
Nov 03, 2006 - 11:54 PM - by frontman
|
The Hoops boss is anxious not to allow Wednesday's 3-0 humbling in Lisbon to derail their Bank of Scotland Premier League title bid.
Strachan could not even utter the name of their Portuguese conquerors as he set his sights solely on the visit of the Edinburgh team.
He said: ``We have told the players it is done. We spoke to them for about five minutes.
``It is Hearts, Hearts all the way now.
``We have no time to reflect on that. When... [Read More]

Bertie Auld -Celts will have learned |
|
Nov 02, 2006 - 9:10 PM - by frontman
|
All eight surviving members of the 1967 heroes joined the Celtic party for this weeks game against Benfica, but their inspiration did not rub off on the current team.Afterwards Bertie Auld shared his views on the game.
Auld said: "We struggled for the first four or five minutes, they got caught up with the atmosphere.
"But they are a very, very young team and when you start with a young team it's very easy to be pulled apart like that.

Miller - no downers here |
|
Nov 02, 2006 - 5:25 PM - by frontman
|
Miller said: "Despite Benfica and Copenhagen moving up to four points a piece, we are still in second place in the group, and it is still in our own hands as we are two points ahead of both of them.
"We'll go into the next game against Manchester United in three weeks in front of a full house at Parkhead, and we have got to do the damage against them".
"We don't need to rely on other people. If we win our remaining games,we are through. It's as simple as... [Read More]

Gomes on Miklos Feher tribute |
|
Nov 02, 2006 - 1:29 PM - by frontman
|
Their team may have lost - but Celtic FC's supporters left Lisbon with the praise and admiration of their Portuguese hosts after making a "wonderful gesture" in honour of former SL Benfica player Miklós Fehér.
'You'll never walk alone'
Fehér died in January 2004 after suffering a heart attack during a match between Benfica and Vitória SC, and the Celtic fans honoured his memory during last night's Group F game by displaying a banner bearing the Hungarian's name,... [Read More]
